Penn Staters - The 14th annual Big Ten alumni picnic will be held rain or shine on Saturday, April 9 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. For the sixth straight year it will be at T.Y. Park in Hollywood, and we have reserved shelter #8 again. All of the details are below, we'll see you there!

5:30 PM to 7PM

The Nittany Lions will take on the Florida Gators in the Outback Bowl on January 1 at 1:00pm in Tampa, FL. The Miami Chapter has secured a limited number of tickets for the Outback Bowl and they are available for purchase by Miami area Penn Staters. The tickets will be in section 207 on the Penn State side and will cost $78.75 each. These seats are better than what you will find available from the University of from Ticketmaster. Currently we do not have a limit on how many each person may purchase, however a limit may be imposed if there is a very high demand. Again, a huge thank you to Steve Feuer who has again fronted the money so the Chapter can offer these tickets.

The instructions/guidelines for reserving tickets is as follows:

- Send us an email (email@pennstatemiami.com) with the number of tickets you would like. Sending an email reserving tickets is a commitment to purchase that number of tickets.
- In your email please include your phone number in case we need to contact you immediately.
- You will be notified shortly (within 48 hours) how many tickets you have been allocated and will receive payment instructions.
- Tickets will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
- Priority will be given to paid members of the Chapter as of December 1st.

This Holiday Party, organized and sponsored by the Miami Seminole Club, will be Wednesday December 8, 2010, at Burger & Beer Joint at Mary Brickell Village* from 6pm to 9pm. Penn State Miami will celebrate the holidays with the local alumni clubs of Clemson, Georgia Tech, and other Big 10 Universities. This gathering of alumni from great universities will be an excellent opportunity to network with fellow leaders in our community. We have all partnered with the Family Resource Center of South Florida** to provide children in their program with a memorable holiday.

Penn State vs Michigan State

Penn Staters, it's hard to believe that the end of football season is upon us. Make sure you don't miss the final game of the 2010 regular season. The Nittany Lions will take on Michigan State this Saturday at 12:00pm in what's sure to be a high powered offensive shootout. Join us to take some time to relax after your black Friday shopping, and let the friendly staff at the Grove Spot cook for you after your Thanksgiving holiday! Penn State vs Indiana

Hey Lions, what are your plans this Saturday afternoon? Join us at The Grove Spot as the Lions take on the Indiana Hoosiers at 12:00pm. The Nittany Lions look to rebound after a tough and hard fought loss at Ohio State. The Nittany Lions are 13-0 all time in this series and are well positioned to get back into the win column on Saturday. We know it's tough to get out for these noon games, so to sweeten the deal (pun intended!) we'll be offering State College's famous grilled stickies straight from The Diner in downtown State College thanks to our Chaptever Vice President Anson Gehman.

Also, this will be the first week of the Penn State Miami Holiday Food Drive. Please bring a non-perishable food item with you to the game this week. We'll collect them and donate them to the Community Partnership for Homeless on behalf of Nathan's Big Wish. Help make this holiday season more enjoyable for those less fortunate than us. Penn State vs Ohio State

Penn Staters, join us on Saturday the 13th at 3:30pm as the Nittany Lions clash with Big 10 rival Ohio State. Fresh off an impressive come behind victory versus Northwestern, the former walk on quarterback Matt McGloin will lead the Lions under center on Saturday as they look to knock off an Ohio State team currently ranked #9 in the country.

Coach Paterno's analysis of the #9 Buckeyes: "Well, you know, they're a good football team". There's something we haven't heard before!

Don't miss what promises to be a very exciting game this Saturday. Also, be sure you've brushed up on your drawings skills. We'll be having a Nittany Lion drawing contest this Saturday during the game. Winners announced at halftime!

Dear Fellow PSU Alums,
I wanted to remind you about the show on Nov 6th in which our Treasurer, Dominic Lamberti, will be singing. It's the Singing Miamians of Pinecrest, which is a Barbershop chorus and the show is called "Broadway Harmonies". We will be singing all new arrangements of your favorite Broadway tunes from Oliver, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, Carousel and many more. We also have several great quartets on the 2nd half of the show. Our headliner is the 2006 International Gold Medal quartet, Vocal Spectrum from St Louis, Missouri. This is the first performance in South Florida and they are incredible singers and performers. They will totally astound you! (See the flyer below)

We have 2 shows only, at 2 PM and 7:30 PM this Saturday only at Old Cutler Presbyterian Church, 14401 Old Cutler Rd. So if you go to the Grove Spot for the game which starts at 3:30, you'll be able to make it to the evening performance. Tickets are only $15 or $30. You can get them from me, or at the door. I guarantee that you will thoroughly enjoy the show and have a great time. (If you come to the evening show, let me know if you are interested in the "Afterglow", which is our version of the cast party.)

3:30pm Saturday, November 6 RSVP Penn Staters, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. If you thought Joe Paterno had reached every milestone possible, think again. Join us this weekend at the Grove Spot at 3:30pm as the Nittany Lions take on Northwestern in an attempt to deliver win #400 to Joe Paterno. We'll do our raffle this week that we did not get to last week, and one of our members will be bringing a very special treat! Allie Struebing will be baking some home-made Penn State cookies with a very special message for Joe on them. I'd tell you what it is, but I don't want to jinx us! Make sure there there on Saturday as this is truly a game for the ages!
