About Us

So who the heck are we, anyway?

We are The Greater Miami Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association. Yes, that's a mouthful - and terribly tedious to type, so you can call us Penn State Miami.

We are the official chapter representing Dade and Monroe counties in the great state of Florida and are affiliated with the national Penn State Alumni Association. We've got a charter, bylaws and all sorts of official-sounding documents. Impressed yet? Yeah - me neither.

Really - we're a group of people who like to get together and watch football, have picnics and volunteer when we can. Most of us are alumni, but we're not all alumni. Friends and parents of students are welcome too. Your level of involvement is up to you, but we do encourage you to get involved, especially if you're new to the area. It's a great way to meet like-minded people, make good friends and do a little networking too.

Basically, we are Penn State.

Our purpose:
The Chapter is organized to promote the welfare of the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) and the Greater Miami community. In the furtherance of these goals, the Chapter shall assist the Alumni Association in developing programs beneficial to Penn State and the community. The Chapter shall work to establish a network of close fellowship and cooperation among Penn State alumni, parents of students, friends, and supporters (the "Penn State Family") residing in the Greater Miami (Florida) area. Through this network, the Chapter shall endeavor to enhance the area's knowledge of Penn State programs and activities and the accomplishments of its students, faculty, and alumni. It shall assist in Penn State's recruiting of outstanding applicants for admission.
